Life Support Systems Awarded City of Melbourne Grant
Way back in 2011 I was awarded an Arts Project Grant for Emerging Artists from the City of Melbourne for my the development of my project: Life Support Systems.
The brief: To create a series of weather maps that use data from NASA Earth Observing Satellite to chart the history of monitoring Earth’s Atmosphere and today’s attitudes towards Climate Change: the forecast for tomorrow. The weather maps will be created using the high-tech glass designed by NASA for the visor of space suit helmets. The idea being, that by creating weather maps that focus on Earth's atmospheric weather, the parallel can be made between the material's original use as a part of the life-support-system of the astronaut and it's natural counterpart- the Ozone Layer.
The works have since been exhibited at CRAFT, MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART TAIPEI and INCINERATOR.
